Resident Support

At BAC, we strive to support and provide services to individuals with varying abilities to help them achieve a life that is meaningful to them through:

Resident Support Services (RSS)

Resident Support Services (RSS) includes training, assistance, and supervision in enabling individuals to maintain or improve their health, to develop skills in activities of daily living, and safety, in the use of community resources, and adapting their behaviour to community and home-like environments.

Employment Support

There are many opportunities for our residents to work at our Learning and Employment Centre at BAC, in our Social Enterprises, and within the community. Whether it be everyday chores, looking after their property, sorting bottles from our bottle drop off, serving customers at the Abilitea’s Café, and Janice’s Boutique, our residents work with pride and passion.

Social Support

Community involvement is very important at BAC because it helps our residents learn social skills and social norms, as well as building outside relationships. Our Recreation Therapy department has built many partnerships with organizations in the community such as Equine Therapy at Sunrise Stables, Yoga at Breathing Space and a long list of athletic sports through Special Olympics.

Supporting Our Residents

Breton Ability Centre supports individuals of all ages and on the spectrum of developmental disabilities to live good, meaningful lives and enable their inclusion and contributions within their community.

Working in collaboration with our partners and stakeholders, Breton Ability Centre follows a model that creates a customized plan for each resident based on their needs and their abilities, whether that is person centered or person directed.

We offer a range of programs and training support options to the individuals we serve. The options include behaviour support, therapeutic recreation and leisure opportunities, and learning and skill development to assist our residents.

We offer customized training and education to other service providers to promote positive support planning, dignity, and respect for individuals with varying abilities.

You can help improve the lives of Breton Ability Centre residents.
