Client Support

At Breton Ability, we strive to support and provide services to individuals with varying abilities to help them achieve a life that is meaningful to them through:

Parrticipant Support Services (RSS)

Participant Support Services (PSS) includes training, assistance, and supervision in enabling individuals to maintain or improve their health, to develop skills in activities of daily living, and safety, in the use of community resources, and adapting their behaviour to community and home-like environments.

Employment Support

There are many opportunities for our clients to work at our Learning and Employment Centre at Breton Ability, in our Social Enterprises, and within the community. Whether it be everyday chores, looking after their property, sorting bottles from our bottle drop off, serving customers at the Abilitea’s Café, and Janice’s Boutique, our participants work with pride and passion.

Social Support

Community involvement is very important at Breton Ability because it helps our clients learn social skills and social norms, as well as building outside relationships. Our Recreation Therapy department has built many partnerships with organizations in the community such as Equine Therapy at Sunrise Stables, Yoga at Breathing Space and a long list of athletic sports through Special Olympics.

Supporting Our Clients

At Breton Ability, we believe that every person has the right to define what a good life means for them, and to be supported in making that vision a reality. We work alongside individuals

of all ages and across the spectrum of developmental disabilities to ensure they have the tools, opportunities, and supports to live with dignity, independence, and inclusion.

Our approach is grounded in supported decision-making and the recognition of the dignity of risk – the idea that every person should have the freedom to make choices, take chances, and grow from their experiences. We provide wrap-around supports that adapt to the individual, ensuring each plan reflects their strengths, goals, and aspirations for community living, learning, and participation.

Through a wide range of programs, we help individuals gain confidence, develop meaningful connections, and fully contribute to their communities.

In collaboration with partners and stakeholders, we also provide training and education to other service providers, promoting a culture of human rights, respect, and inclusion that uplifts all people with varying abilities.

You can help improve the lives of Breton Ability participants.
