Fundraising Priorities

Breton Ability Centre’s charitable foundation was created to enrich the lives of our residents by funding programming and recreational opportunities, like day trips, participation in community events and more. The profits from our social enterprises support our charitable foundation, but we also rely on generous and consistent support from our donors. Your donations make a difference to each and every person we serve!

Home for the Holidays

2024 marks the fifth year for our holiday campaign at Breton Ability Centre. This holiday season, we are excited to share an important update about the transformation we’re undertaking at Breton Ability Centre—one that will offer even more opportunities for individuals to thrive. Over the next five years, our focus will be on decentralizing our services, expanding community-based living options, and empowering those we serve to have a greater voice in choosing where they live and the support they need.

By early 2025, we will have 15 community homes spread across the Cape Breton Regional Municipality—each providing a safe, welcoming space for individuals to build a life of their own. These homes are already making a meaningful impact for people like Ryan MacDonald, who recently celebrated his first anniversary in his own apartment.

As we move toward this transition, we need your support more than ever. These new homes are not just buildings—they are spaces where lives are transformed. But we can’t do it alone. We need the kindness and generosity of our community to help turn these houses into warm, safe homes that reflect the love and respect every individual deserves.

With your support, we can make these homes truly shine. Together, we’ll create spaces where people not only live, but also thrive.

BAC Charitable Committee

Each month, a dedicated group of staff and volunteers meet as our Charitable Foundation Committee, and work together to help improve the lives of individuals residing at BAC. Our committee is always seeking enthusiastic volunteers who work at BAC and who are from the community and want to make a difference in the lives of individuals with varying abilities. If you have one hour to spare each month, we encourage you to please contact David Farmer at 902-539-7640 Ext. 3349 or via email at dfarmer@cb-bac.ca

You can help improve the lives of Breton Ability Centre residents.
